6th Plant Genomics and Gene Editing Congress: Europe

Developing gene editing, NGS, and Omic technologies to advance plant research

Following the success of the 2017 conference in Amsterdam in March, we are looking to host our 6th Plant Genomics and Gene Editing Congress Europe in Rotterdam on the 14th and 15th May 2018. We had great feedback from the 300+ attendees at this year's meeting and are looking forward to growing and improving the event for next year including co-locating this meeting with our Partnerships in Biocontrol, Biostimulants, and Microbiome Congress Europe.

Plant research and its associated technologies have improved dramatically over the last 5 years as a result of the revolutionary breakthroughs including new gene editing technologies and reduction in the cost of sequencing. Many plants have now been successfully sequenced and a wide range of biological data sets made available. As a result, plant scientists are now more than ever making use of state of the art technology platforms to help explain biological principals, advance research and therefore enable benefits such as crop improvement / breeding etc. by harnessing the greater understanding of plant genomes and our conference is the perfect place to find out more about these methods and systems to advance your own research.

We are also offering opportunities for 6 early career researchers to present their work in a 15-minute slot on the main programme and we have awarded two grants of up to £750 for this. The deadline for these applications was the 10th September 2017 and we are no longer accepting applicants as the slots have now been filled.

2018 Speakers include

Attracting experts working in all areas of plant science, the event will examine the latest in gene editing methods as well as exploring developments in NGS and omic technologies being used for progressing plant based research in aspects such as crop trait development, epigenetics, phenotyping, plant microbiome, and disease resistance as well understanding tools to overcome bottlenecks and enable successful data analysis and management.

This comprehensive two-day congress, featuring over 40 presentations across four tracks, will provide experts with an exceptional environment in which to explore the application of novel gene-editing technologies, CRISPR and other omics technologies. Crops covered include wheat, rice, tomato, corn, potato, barley and millet.

An extended panel discussion will explore the issues of applying gene editing methods with the consumer in mind; while roundtable discussions, led by experts, will enable a deeper investigation of subjects including genomic selection, sequencing workflow and adapting to the challenges of climate change

What our delegates say about the conference

100% relevant

Usually when you go to conferences, maybe 25% of the talks will be relevant, here 100% are relevant.

Gil Ronen

The plant genomics conference is pretty exciting. I regularly participate in the plant and animal genome conference in San Diego, compared to that this conference is more focused, has a collection of interesting speakers and cutting edge technologies, not only in genomics but also in imaging and genetic engineering. This is a fantastic conference.

Henry Daniell

Professor & Director of Translation Research, University of Pennsylvania

Covers all aspects

It was a great cross-section of plant science, it included just about all aspects of plant genomics. It included the whole spectrum of science, from research, through to breeding, production, and applications and just top notch talks throughout the day. We've found this congress to be a great place to stay connected to the thought leaders across the spectrum of applications.

Director, Market Development, Illumina

New technologies

For me the most interesting part is learning about the new technologies presented here, learning about the genomic research going on because it's an essential part of my studies.

Ksenia Krasileva

Group Leader, The Genome Analysis Centre

Very Effective

It was indeed a very well-organized and effective conference for us (Diagenode s.a)

Poster Presentations

Poster presentation sessions will take place in breaks and alongside the other breakout sessions of the conference. Your presentation will be displayed in a dedicated area, with the other accepted posters from industry and academic presenters.

We also issue a poster eBook to all attendees with your full abstract in and can share your poster as a PDF after the meeting if you desire (optional).

Whether looking for funding, employment opportunities or simply wanting to share your work with a like-minded and focused group, these are an excellent way to join the heart of this congress.

In order to present a poster at the forum you need to be registered as a delegate. Please note that there is limited space available and poster space is assigned on a first come first served basis (subject to checks and successful registration).

We charge an admin fee of €100 to industry delegates to present, that goes towards the shared cost of providing the poster presentation area and display boards, guides etc. This fee is waived for those representing academic institutions and not for profit organisations.

Submission instructions

We will require the form (downloadable below) to be submitted by the 27th of April. This is the formal deadline however space is another limiting factor so early application is recommended. Therefore please contact us with any questions you have as soon as possible.
