6th Plant Genomics and Gene Editing Congress: Asia 2019

Global Engage is pleased to announce that the 6th Plant Genomics and Gene Editing Congress, co-located with Microbiome for Agriculture Congress Asia 2019 is taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 29th & 30th July 2019. The meetings are co-hosted by the University of Nottingham (Malaysia) and Crops for the Future.

Over 120 people joined the meeting in Bangkok last year. It is part of our highly respected Plant Genomic Series held in Europe each May and the US every September and which is attended by over 500 people each year.

With a worldwide reputation, the meeting attracts experts working in all areas of plant science. At this year’s meeting developments in gene editing, NGS and OMICs technologies will all be explored for crop trait development epigenetics and more. Presentations dedicated to plant & soil microbiomes, and the importance of plant phenotyping in the context of bioinformatics challenges, will encourage a holistic approach to plant research.

Specific focus areas include:

  • Gene Editing Technologies & Tool Stage Development
  • Plant Omics - Development, Application and Trends
  • Next Generation Sequencing for Next Generation Plant Breeding
  • Plant Bioinformatics and Data Management
  • Plant and Soil Microbes Interaction
  • Plant Microbiome and Agriculture

Scientific Advisory Committee

Plant research and its associated technologies have improved drastically over the recent years as a result of revolutionary breakthroughs such as new gene editing technology and the reduction in the cost of sequencing. Many plants have now been successfully sequenced and a wide range of biological datasets made available. As a result, plant scientists are now making use of state of the art technology platforms to help explain biological principals, advance research and therefore enable benefits such as crop improvement and breeding techniques.

Should you be either an expert already using gene editing, NGS, or other genomic technologies for plant analysis with a desire to extend your knowledge, or a researcher keen to invest in sequencing / omic technology and looking to learn which platform/technology best suits your requirements – the conference will provide an interactive networking forum to answer your queries through a vibrant exhibition room full of technology providers showcasing their technologies and other solutions, expert led case study presentations, roundtable discussions and panel discussions over four separate tracks.

Poster Presentations

Poster presentation sessions will take place in breaks and alongside the other breakout sessions of the conference. Your presentation will be displayed in a dedicated area, with the other accepted posters from industry and academic presenters.

We also issue a poster eBook to all attendees with your full abstract in and can share your poster as a PDF after the meeting if you desire (optional).

Whether looking for funding, employment opportunities or simply wanting to share your work with a like-minded and focused group, these are an excellent way to join the heart of this congress.

In order to present a poster at the forum you need to be registered as a delegate. Please note that there is limited space available and poster space is assigned on a first come first served basis (subject to checks and successful registration).

  1. Submit your entry prior to the closing deadline (1 entry per person).
  2. One winner from both the Congress will be selected by the judges.
  3. The winner of the poster presentation will be given a 15-minute speaking position on the conference agenda and will be notified prior to the meeting.
  4. The judges will make the decision based on the abstract(s) submitted.
  5. The winners will receive a certificate from the organiser.
  6. Representatives from solution provider organisations or experts already speaking on the program are not eligible to enter the competition but are welcome to present posters at the meeting as normal. USD50 is only chargeable to Solution Providers

What our delegates say about the conference

Cutting edge topics

The networking I would say is the most useful aspect and also learning of those areas that are at the cutting edge that I wouldn't know about because I'm not a specialist in that area.

Steve Haber

Research Scientist; Cereal Virology, Agriculture and Agri-Food

Well organised

I think the organisation and the quality of the delegates was very good.

Vijay Vaswani

Business Development Manager, Bioline

Informative and helpful

The information was very informative and helpful. I will suggest this event to all of my friends.

Nursyurhaida Mohd Hanafi

Research Officer, Institute Agri-Biotechnology, Malaysia

Interactive conference

I really enjoyed the interaction with the other delegates of the conference, and learning a lot about a new generation of technologies, especially third generation sequencing technologies.

David Jackson

Professor, Cold Spring Harbor Lab
