Battery Safety Final Agenda Just Released

Lithium-ion batteries contain more energy per unit of weight than conventional batteries, which, while contributing to their success, also triggers safety concerns. These same properties that result in high-energy density also pose potential hazards if the energy is released at a fast, uncontrolled rate. Therefore, safety is of great interest to the industry, resulting in areas of intense research. The 6th Annual Battery Safety conference addresses innovations and technologies that improve safety, reliability and degradation management of lithium-ion batteries as well as their safe transport.

BTS Track 1

Innovations continue to increase the energy storage capability for lithium-ion batteries. But these higher-energy densities can also compromise lithium-ion battery safety. In addition, lithium-ion batteries are used by consumers in long-term or multi-use applications that require an understanding of any new safety concerns that might arise in those scenarios. Thus, accurate tests and models are critical for predicting and controlling the complex electrochemical, thermal and mechanical behavior of lithium-ion batteries. Part 1: Engineering, Testing & Simulation convenes engineers, cell manufacturers and safety officials to share cell-level research, systems-level safety analysis and pack-level management for various applications from industry, academia, government and the military. > Final Agenda Now Available

BTS Track 2

Safe and efficient battery transportation is a critical component of the manufacturing supply chain. Meanwhile, catastrophic incidents involving the transportation of lithium-ion batteries continue to make news. The task of implementing effective safety strategies falls on regulatory authorities, cell manufacturers, R&D engineers and forensic scientists. Part 2: Transportation, Packaging & Forensics continues the vital dialogue of integrating lithium-ion battery safety into a mobile society. > Final Agenda Now Available
